Annular tear / left bump on a disk, bulge in another. Conservative or surgery to be done with it?
I have an annular tear and a protrusion left on my L5/S1 and a mild pumping in my L4. I've done physical therapy with muscle relaxants anitiInflamatories and just have not had any relief. Some say I should continue with conservative treatment and some say surgery should take to do with it, because I am young enough. I just want better and everyone has opinions about what is my best bet. Anyone have any experience with this situation or similar?
It is independent of how the news of the injury and the amount of pain that has conservative treatment wy how affects your quality of life. I wait at least 3 months .. I have seen many patients years time will not have surgery for ruptured disks in his back and neck and are doing well. I would like an opinion from an orthopedic surgeon column and column is also a neurosurgeon. You may also want to consider epidural injections by pain specialists. If you are having numbness, pain and progressive weakness of the section, however, you most likely need surgery sooner rather than later.

someone had epidural shots due to herniated disc? someone was smoking pot just to be able to relax?
diagnosed with hernia drive for about five months now, is going to physical therapy and some medicines inflammotory, massage, chiropractic and light exercise. but after all that at the end of that day, I'm still in so much pain (the most comfortable position would be the fetal position). I will give my first shot of epidural anesthesia, is there something I need to know to who'se anyone gone through this. I have also tried smoking, J, i can say that is of great help to me. I do not know if you have effects negative or if it actually works as muscle relaxants … i found this site very useful, thanks
I had an epidural steriod shot late last year by a herniated disc and immediately felt relief. I cried. And down considerably, my dose of analgesic. It just started to disappear and I are now considering another one. Doctor will be more relaxed during the procedure. Find out if your doctor offers.

Specialized surgical options available for degenerative disc disease in India at affordable prices
Degenerative disc disease is one of the spine disease more commonly associated with aging. These are the intervertebral discs and mainly affects any of the cervical or region lumbar spine.
The spine is made up of several vertebral bones stacked one above the other. Between the vertebrae are discs that give mobility to the spine and act as shock absorbers. In the back, two small joints at each level – called facet joints. This type of structure allows you bend and rotate in different directions.
When disks are spent with aging, vertebral column to that particular level, it functions normally and the later becomes painful. Disc degeneration leads to a condition called degenerative disc disease.
It is mainly characterized by back pain although chronic symptoms vary from patient to patient. Pain radiating to the buttocks or thighs, tingling and weakness through the knees may be other symptoms observed in some patients.
Whereas the vast majority of these patients can be treated with painkillers, braces, physical therapy, small percentage of these patients do not respond to nonsurgical treatment and need surgery.
The two surgical options for spine conditions are spinal fusion and disc replacement
In spinal fusion surgery, the disc (which is a soft material between two vertebrae) is removed and the space is filled with bone graft. In due time, the bone creates a solid bony bridge across the two vertebrae. To suppress the movement, previously segment pain is pain free.
However, the disadvantage of this procedure is that not only does this remove the normal movements of the spine at that particular level, but ultimately leads to degeneration of higher levels of the spine that is not previously affected. So, this leads to pain in the unaffected segment over time.
Modern and innovative surgical treatment for degenerative disc disease is – Replace the disk. After removing the disc, is replaced by an artificial disc which thus restores the movements in this segment in particular and no movement becomes larger segment of vertebral column painful in the long term.
The artificial disc is an alternative to spinal fusion in patients who have one or two degenerated painful discs usually between L4/L5 and L5/S1.
